Hangzhou (China), 15 May, 2025 — The Geely EX5, Geely Auto's next-generation pure electric SUV, has been honoured with a Red Dot Award in the Product Design category. The recognition affirms Geely Auto's expertise in electric vehicle design and reinforces the brand's ongoing dedication to design innovation.
The 2025 Red Dot Award win for Geely EX5 follows a successful Red Dot Award run in 2024, where Geely Auto secured accolades for its Galaxy Starship SUV concept vehicle and Galaxy E8 sedan.
As Geely Auto's first electric vehicle developed for global markets, the Geely EX5’s exterior design blends porcelain-inspired curves with dynamic and modern automotive lines, creating an elegant, minimal, yet bold visual statement that resonates with local and global aesthetics.
The vehicle's body cleverly incorporates porcelain-inspired finishes, showcasing rich and multidimensional qualities under various lighting conditions. The interior embodies a philosophy of refined comfort, with an ergonomic armrest design and meticulously crafted seat details, delivering a harmonious blend of sophistication and comfort.
Geely's strategic international expansion continues to strengthen its influence in global automotive design. Four dedicated Geely Design centres have been established in Shanghai, Gothenburg, Coventry, and Milan – forming a diverse creative network of over 1,000 design professionals who collaborate to drive product innovation.
At the heart of this global network is a human-centred philosophy that drives Geely Auto to craft vehicles that genuinely connect with a diverse user set. By integrating advanced global R&D capabilities with design excellence, Geely Auto aims to create experiences that balance refinement and comfort with intuitive functionality, resulting in a portfolio of vehicles with universal appeal.
The Geely EX5 has successfully launched in several key global markets, including Australia, New Zealand, Jordan, Chile, Thailand, and Indonesia. Building on this success, the Geely EX5 is set to enter more than 20 strategic global markets by the end of the year, providing significant advancement to Geely Auto's expansion strategy in the global EV sector.
The Geely EX5 Red Dot Award will be formally celebrated at the Red Dot Design Award Ceremony in July 2025 in Essen, Germany.
Established in 1955, the Red Dot Design Award is an annual international design competition, and has since cemented itself as one of the most coveted seals to signal design quality worldwide.
